Weather, Hurricanes and the Caribbean

The weather in the Caribbean is generally warm and tropical. There are two seasons in the Caribbean, the rainy season and the dry season. Rain can fall during any month but usually falls during the rainy period. The average temperature is from the low to high 80’s.

The dry season is from December through May. The temperatures average from the high 70’s to the low 80’s. Rain can fall during this time is less frequent.

Many nations in the Caribbean can be affected by Hurricanes. The Hurricane belt is generally located in the central part of the Caribbean including the Yucatan Peninsula, the southern United States and parts of the south eastern part of the US. Hurricanes generally form of the coast of Africa and move in a westerly direction toward the Caribbean.

The more southern Caribbean nations are not affected as much by hurricanes. The island nations of Aruba and the other Netherland Antilles are not impacted by hurricanes at all. It you are worried about Hurricanes, consider the southern Caribbean nations. Hurricane season is from June through November.
